GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – As the city of Greenville continues to grow, a groundbreaking ceremony took place at the future site of the Greenville Transportation Activity Center.

The nearly $8 million project will create a centrally located transfer facility where all local and regional transportation services can connect.

Greenville Mayor Allen Thomas said it will help put Greenville on the map.

“This is the culmination of decades of work as we work to provide this transportation hub right in the center of our city, which better ties Greenville and eastern North Carolina to our transportation grid across the country,” Thomas said.

The GREAT Bus System, Pitt Area Transit, ECU Transit, Greyhound, taxis and an Amtrak connector all plan to make use of the facility in the future.
