City of Greenville still working to fill positions

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – The City of Greenville is doing all it can to replace top positions, but it’s costing taxpayers in the long run.

That’s according to Councilman Calvin Mercer, who says the exit of the former manager, assistant manager and several other department heads in 2012 took a toll at taxpayers’ expense.

Mercer says adjustment times of new staff, continuation of projects and other expensive challenges come about when new people are hired.

Right now, the positions of police chief, two assistant managers, and the Economic Development Officer are all open.

Interviews are expected for all positions in the coming months.
