In New Bern, the city’s electric department received several awards for reliable public power.
One award is the prestigious Diamond Designation, which recognizes the department as a reliable public power provider.
The award from the American Public Power Association looks at other factors such as system-improvement, workforce development, and safety.
They also received a Certificate of Excellence for 2018.
“It is a testimony to our staff and the systems that we built and their commitment to very high standards,” director of public utilities Charles Bauschard said. “It is system planning. We are looking at h, and we are using those numbers to make decisions. We are doing long-term studies of the system looking at how the system is performing today as well as the future as our system grows and customers expand.”
These awards come following the city’s massive power outages and restorations associated with Hurricane Florence.
