City to add public parking along Greene Street

People in Uptown Greenville will soon have more parking options.

50 parking spots will be added on Greene Street between Reade Circle and Fifth Streets.

The furthest left lane will be replaced with parking.

The majority of the spots will be limited to two hours.

The spots in front of the Police and Fire/Rescue Headquarters will be limited to one hour for those who have business inside that building.

There will also be a bike lane added.

“The Uptown area is sort of our living room for the city, so we are trying to provide more parking in this area for our residents to use,” Public Works Director Kevin Mulligan said.

The city said traffic will not be impacted.

They expect to start later this month, and it should only take a few days to paint the spots.
