BEAUFORT, N.C. (WNCT) – A crew from the Fort Macon Coast Guard Station saw an unexpected site Tuesday when they came across a Great White shark feeding on a dead whale.
It is believed by some ECU researchers that sharks frequent the inlet and Pamlico Sound during different times in the year.
WNCT has gone out with ECU researcher Chuck Bangley each of the last two years as he researchers sharks in North Carolina waterways.
In July 2015, our cameras were rolling when Bangley and his crew reeled in a 9 foot Tiger shark in the Beaufort Inlet, which was only about 75 yards from the nearest swimmers.
