CONSUMER ALERT: North Carolina flood cars warning

News

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCT) – There’s a new warning about flooded vehicles that could be headed to North Carolina.

The Attorney General’s Office says it’s only a matter of time before vehicles damaged in the South Carolina flood show up for sale.

Under state law, failure to disclose damage is a misdemeanor. To protect yourself, authorities say before buying a car, ask for a complete vehicle history report. Also, you should consider having an independent mechanic inspect the vehicle.

Flooded cars often go through extensive cleaning that can make it difficult for buyers to detect any damage.
