Craven Co man sentenced for sex offenses involving a child


NEW BERN, N.C. (WNCT) – The Craven County Sheriff’s Office announced a New Bern man will spend up to 20 years in prison for sex offenses involving a a child.

Deputies arrested Jeffery Paul Carriere, 46, in September 2015 after a complaint came to them in August.

They say Carriere pleaded guilty to First Degree Sexual Offense and First Degree Rape of a Child on January 28, 2016.

Judge Ben Alford sentenced him to serve 16 to 20 years in prison. Carriere will have to register as a sex offender and will need to be monitored by satellite upon his release.
