Currituck County declares State of Emergency following Hermine

Currituck County, NC (WNCT) – Following Tropical Storm Hermine, Currituck County has declared a State of Emergency.

As of Saturday afternoon, no restrictions were in place within the declaration.

County officials report downed trees and power lines at various locations in the area, however all main roadways are open.

Emergency crews are working to clear any blocked secondary roadways.

Dominion Power reports over 7,500 power outages in Currituck County. Crews are assessing the damage and working to restore power.

County Officials are asking all drivers to use caution if they have to travel, and be on the lookout for downed trees, power lines, or standing water.
