DART officer killed in Dallas ambush was stationed at Cherry Point

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – Brent Thompson, a Dallas Area Rapid Transit officer who was killed in Dallas Thursday night, was with Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point during the mid-1990’s.

While Thompson was in the Marine Corps, he was stationed at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point from November 1991, to May 23, 1994.

Thompson served in the Marine Corps from 1991 until 1994, according to his official military record. He was a basic administrative Marine who left the serve as a private first class.

The 43-year-old, was a newlywed whose bride also works on the police force. According to the Associated Press, Thompson’s wife was not on duty at the protest.

He was among five police officers killed in the ambush. Seven more were injured.
