Deputies: Missing mom, baby may be held against will in SC

BOLIVIA, N.C. (AP) – A search is underway for a missing woman and her 1-year-old child who authorities say may be being held against their will in South Carolina.

The Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office in North Carolina issued an alert saying 21-year-old Shayla Da’nia Bryant and Alijah Powell were last seen Saturday at the scene of a shooting in Brunswick County. No one was injured.

The two were reported missing Wednesday. Police say they may be in South Carolina and in the company of 28-year-old Dwight Powell Jr., who is a person of interest in that shooting.

Authorities say Dwight Powell should be considered armed and dangerous and Bryant may be with him against her will.

Police say the three could be in a gold Chevrolet Impala with North Carolina license plates.
