GREENVILLE, NC (WNCT)- Chris Smith, the diabetic chef, visited Pitt County today during National Diabetes Awareness Month.
The Pitt County Health Department sponsored a healthy cooking tutorial with Chef Smith. He shared nutritious recipes like grilled chicken and pumpkin tarts. The meals are not just for people battling the disease but others just looking to live a healthier lifestyle. Coordinators with the health department hope attendees took home more than just recipes.
“We just want to raise awareness about the impact diabetes has on many people’s lives and to raise awareness also about how to prevent diabetes but also manage it,” Joan Mansfield with the Pitt County Health Department said. “to teach folks about the risk factors also.”
