Diverse people gather in Greenville for Charleston vigil

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) — Dozens of people from different races and religions gathered at Greenville’s New Dimensions Community Church Friday night to pray for the victims of the Charleston church shooting.

Elaine Moore was amazed by the diversity at the vigil.

“To see all these people of different races here, I love it!” Moore said.”To see all different races coming together as one, that’s what we go to do!”

Samar Badwan came because she wanted her daughter to understand the importance of people praying and singing together.

“This is about humans getting hurt, and I want her to know that we have to feel for everyone,” Badwan said.

Religious leaders from various churches, members of the Greenville Police Department and Sheriff Neil Elks were present at the vigil.
