CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) – Carolina Panthers fans have a new way to show their team spirit after the North Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles unveiled a new “Keep Pounding” license plate.
The new plate became available to the public on May 31, replacing the old Carolina Panthers plate.
It is a result of House Bill 588, which was sponsored by Mecklenburg representatives Beverly M. Earle, Charles Jeter, Carla D. Cunningham, Dan Bishop, Becky Carney and Iredell Representative John A. Fraley.
The old plate was $10 to purchase, but the new one comes with a bigger price tag at $30.
Officials say $10 of the money goes to the Carolina Panthers Charities Fund of the Foundation for the Carolinas to create new athletic opportunities for children, support their educational needs.
Another $10 goes to the Keep Pounding Fund of the Carolinas Healthcare Foundation, Inc. to support cancer research.
