There’s a new spot in Emerald Isle that has the locals and tourists buzzing. Surf’s Up Grill and Bar is conveniently located right along the Emerald Isle Pier, offering visitors great views and great food.
“Love the shrimp. The boiled shrimp. Hot. The butter is yummy,” said regular Lynn Underwood.
It doesn’t take long for Surf’s Up to make an impression. Despite it being around for just a year, it’s growing a reputation, even for first time visitors.
“I’m like we should eat here every day for the rest of the time we’re here. That’s how much I like it,” said James Holding who was visiting from Pennsylvania.
There are a lot of “go to’s” on the menu. If you’re looking for an appetizer, try out the fried calamari or one of our favorites, the dynamite shrimp.
“It’s probably one of the hottest selling items,” said co-owner Cory Suchara. “People love it.”
Served up over a bed of cabbage, tomatoes, onions and banana peppers, the fried shrimp is tossed in the house-made boom boom sauce and served up ready to eat.
Another hot selling item — the shrimp burger, which is overflowing with fried shrimp.
It’s served up under the house-made slaw.
“Mayo base. Then just a little sugar, salt, pepper and a little bit of apple cider vinegar,” said Suchara.
“Shrimp. Delicious, fresh. The coleslaw gives it a nice little crunch. Brioche bun just holds it all together,” said WNCT’s Josh Birch.
