JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – If you weren’t able to pay your respects on Memorial Day, don’t worry.
In the military community of Onslow County and Jacksonville, there are many memorials you can visit on your own.
One of the biggest memorials is the Lejeune Memorial Gardens. It features a Vietnam Memorial, 9/11 Memorial, Beirut Memorial, Montford Point Memorial and the Eagle Globe and Anchor Memorial.
The Assistant City Manager of Jacksonville says the city prides itself on honoring those who have served.
“This city has adopted the premise to never forget,” said Glenn Hargett.
Other memorials you can visit in Onslow County include the Freedom Fountain in Jacksonville, which aims to honor those who have passed through the city.
You can also visit nearly a dozen memorials aboard Camp Lejeune.
