Driver dies in Monday night car crash on 10th Street

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – The driver of a Nissan 350Z, involved in a serious crash on 10th street on the evening of May 2nd, has succumbed to his injuries.

21-year-old Roney Wesley Allen of Greenville died at Vidant Medical Center late Monday night. Allen’s car was traveling eastbound when it crossed over the center line and crossed into the path of a Ford F-150 truck, which was traveling westbound.

The passenger in the Nissan, 21-year-old Gabrielle Alexander of High Point, and the driver of the truck, 52-year-old Katherine Rose of Wilmington, both suffered minor injuries. They were treated and released from Vidant Medical Center.

Both vehicles were seized for further inspection. No charges have been filed at this time and the cause of the crash remains under investigation.Original Story 5/2/16

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – The Greenville Police Department’s Traffic Safety Unit is investigating a serious car crash on the stretch of East 10th Street between Greenville Boulevard and the entrance to Brook Valley.

Shortly after 7 p.m. Monday, a Nissan sports car was traveling eastbound on 10th Street when it crossed the center lane and struck a Ford pickup truck, which was traveling westbound. Both the driver of the Nissan and a passenger in the car were transported to Vidant Medical Center. The driver of the Nissan had serious injuries.

Additional details, including the names of those involved in the accident, are expected to be released later Tuesday.
