FAISON, N.C. (WNCT) – Benjamin VanPelt, a pharmacist at Faison Pharmacy, was arrested on May 12 for diverting medication from the pharmacy.

He was charged with 20 counts of embezzlement of a controlled substance by an employee of a register, 20 counts of obtaining a controlled substance by fraud or forgery, 13 counts of simple possession of a controlled substance and four counts of trafficking opium or heroin.

Vanpelt was placed in the Duplin County Jail under a $1,160,000 million bond. He is due in court on June 10.
