East Carolina hosts the Exceptional Community Baseball League

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – The East Carolina baseball team hosted the Exceptional Community Baseball League Sunday afternoon at Clark-LeClair stadium.

The Exceptional Community Baseball League (ECBL) began in 2005 in Greenville to provide the special needs population of Greenville and the surrounding areas with a baseball program.

While the kids loved getting a chance to play baseball with division one athletes, maybe the biggest impact was on the Pirates themselves.

“It’s a big conference loss in the grand scheme of things, but in the big world, it means nothing,” said ECU third-baseman Eric Tyler after ECU’s loss to South Florida. “You know, we come out here and play with these kids, and realize how good we have it. There’s no better feeling.”
