Easter celebrations held across the East

News

Across the East, many celebrated the Easter holiday.

9 On Your Side visited four churches of different denominations Sunday.

Each had the same resounding message: He is risen.

“Jesus died, and he beat death, stomped on hell,” Ignite church Sunday school teacher, Emily Robinson said. “And he’s alive now.”

“He is God’s son, he is God in the flesh, he defeated death and the grave, and he promises us eternal life,” Ignite Church member, Lee Marks added.

“It is the hallmark of the Christian faith,”  Pastor of York Memorial AME Zion Church, Laticia Godette, said. “He got up. Jesus is risen. We serve a risen Lord.”

“Easter Sunday means everything,” York Memorial AME Zion Church member, Vanessa Bryant, added. “Easter Sunday is the resurrection of Jesus Christ, and in so doing, all of our sins are washed away.”

“Jesus came back alive, we are celebrating that Jesus came back,” Oakmont Baptist Church member, Haley Tyler, said.

“He paid the price for me,” Oakmont Baptist Church member, Jason Boyd, said “He gave me a chance to live again. He gave me a chance to live awhile on this Earth, and then have a chance to live in Heaven for an eternal life.”

“We come from many different cultures and we gather together around the same altar to praise the lord and give thanks,” St. Gabriel Catholic Church pastor, Romen Acero, said. “The victory of Christ over our sins.”
