GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) A student was found dead in a residence hall on East Carolina University’s campus on Oct. 18.

ECU officials identified the student as Joseph Robert Harbolt of Emerald Isle.

His family says he had Juvenile Diabetes, yet the official cause of death is not yet known. His death is still under investigation.

Harbolt was a junior at ECU and an intended nursing major.

Harbolt was discovered unresponsive by his roommate in their room in Fleming Residence Hall around 7 p.m.

ECU continues to offer support to the friends and family of Joseph Harbolt.

The ECU Counseling Center is available Monday-Friday for anyone seeking counseling services.

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT)- According to an ECU faculty memo, officials are investigating the death of a student on campus.

The student was found deceased in his dorm room on Saturday evening.

His cause of death is unknown.

No foul play is expected.
