GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – East Carolina senior wide out Jimmy Williams was granted a fifth year of eligibility due to a medical hardship waiver by the AAC.

Williams will be able to play immediately next season for the Pirates.

Williams suffered a season-ending foot injury in his freshman season after playing just two games. The medical hardship waiver means that those two games will not count as an entire season for the Washington, N.C. native.

Last season, Williams was third on the team with 45 catches and led the wide receivers with an impressive 18.8 yards-per-reception average. Williams notched a career high with 179-receving yards in the team’s loss to Virginia Tech.

When Williams takes the field next season, he will look to continue his 13-game stretch of recording at least one reception.
