HATTERAS, N.C. — A fiber cable that provides connectivity to Hatteras Island was damaged on Friday afternoon. causing the island to lose internet, cellular and landline phone service.

Crews were dispatched to the area to make the repairs. Officials also said areas on Ocracoke Island were impacted.

Dare County Emergency Management reported Saturday morning that internet, cellular and landline phone service had been restored for Hatteras Island. County officials said if your service has not yet been restored, please attempt to contact your service provider by all means possible.

There was no update as of 7 a.m. Saturday on the status of resumed services in the areas impacted on Ocracoke Island.
