Former Carolina Beach officer faces more sex charges

BOLIVIA, N.C. (AP) – A former reserve police officer in Carolina Beach faces more sex charges.

Multiple media outlets reported that warrants issued in Brunswick County late last week accuse 29-year-old Joseph Adam Silva with impersonating a police officer, sexual servitude of an adult, second-degree forcible rape and second-degree forced sex offense.

Brunswick County authorities say the latest allegation stem from reports in January. It was not known if he has an attorney for the new charges.

Silva had been charged with burglary, child abuse, embezzlement, sex assaults and impersonating a police officer last month in New Hanover County.

The Carolina Beach Police Department says Silva worked as a reserve officer from March to September last year.
