FUQUAY-VARINA, N.C. (AP) – Authorities say a former Granville County deputy broke into the home where his wife was staying with their two children and shot and killed her before killing himself.
Investigators told media outlets that officers called for a break in had just arrived at the Fuquay-Varina home around 8:40 p.m. Friday when they heard gunshots.
Authorities say 34-year-old Jeremy Pearce killed 30-year-old Rebecka Pearce, then shot himself. The couple’s 6-year-old and 2-year-old daughters were found uninjured in a bedroom.
Police say Jeremy Pearce kicked in the back door of the home owned by Rebecka Pearce’s parents.
Granville County Sheriff Brindell Wilkins says Pearce was a deputy with his force. He didn’t say what happened to end his employment.
