GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – He’s a motivational speaker. He’s a personal trainer. For years, Giavanni Ruffin has been putting others before himself.
That was until friend and Seahawks’ safety Cam Chancellor helped give Ruffin the opportunity of a lifetime.
Ruffin told WNCT that Chancellor reached out to the Seahawks on behalf of Ruffin, insisting the organization give Giavanni a try-out.
On Monday, Ruffin got the opportunity and took full advantage of it. He announced on Monday via social media that the Seahawks offered him an invitation to mini-camp to earn a spot on the roster.
The 27-year-old running back played for East Carolina in 2009 and 2010. He rushed for 692 yards and 7 touchdowns in two seasons in Greenville.
Ruffin went undrafted in 2011 and shifted his attention to motivating others. He created his own clothing line entitled, ‘Take No Days Off.’
Now, it’s Giavanni Ruffin’s chance in the spotlight and he said he’s ready for the opportunity.
