GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – William Edwardson, Jr., former-Trexler Middle School teacher, was sentenced to six years in prison by the U.S. Attorney’s Office after pleading guilty to one count of receipt of child pornography.
At the time of the indictment, Edwardson was a teacher and soccer coach at Trexler Middle School in Richlands.
Edwardson will have to register as a sex offender, as well as face five years of supervised release.Previous Story on 1/11/16:
According to the Onslow County District Attorney’s Office, a former Richlands teacher is expected to be sentenced today in federal court.
William Edwardson, a former teacher and soccer coach at Trexler Middle School, plead guilty to possessing more than a dozen video files portraying sexual acts among children, adults and animals.
Edwardson had taught eighth-grade social studies at the school and was also the athletic director. He started teaching there in 2013.

56-year-old William Edwardson of Jacksonville formerly taught and coached soccer at Trexler Middle School.Investigators say they identified an IP address downloading and sharing child pornography via the peer-to-peer network, Shareaza. They traced that address back to Edwardson. He was interviewed and admitted to downloading visual depictions of minor children engaging in sexually explicit conduct. Sentencing details weren’t immediately available.
