Funeral service held for Congressman Walter B. Jones in Greenville

U.S. Congressman Walter B. Jones was laid to rest in a ceremony Thursday. 

The District 3 representative passed away over the weekend on his 76th birthday.

Jones served North Carolina for more than 30 years.

A public visitation was held at St. Peter Catholic Church in Greenville, running from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, 

Hundreds of people stopped by to pay their respects.

Cameras were not allowed at the visitation, but people are able to line up and approach the flag-draped casket to give a moment of thanks.

His storied career and life of service is being remembered by the everyday man, the people he served.

 Jones will be buried alongside his father Forest Hills Cemetery in Farmville.
