GREAT expanding services to Pitt County Council on Aging

The Greenville Area Transit system will soon be expanding its service are to provide service to the Pitt County Council on Aging at the Alice F. Keene Center on County Home Road.

The change will impact two existing routes to accommodate the new service.

Executive director of the Council on Aging, Rich Zeck, said there is a great need for this service.

“Many of the older adults don’t have transportation, can’t afford transportation, and they felt they were being discriminated against and there was this great facility out there and they couldn’t use it,” Zeck said.

He said people will now have access to walking trails, fresh vegetables at the farmer’s market, and other parts of Greenville they were unable to travel to before.
