GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – Big changes are ahead for Greenville’s Town Common.

Starting in April, Alcohol is permitted for events.

City Council approved the rule unanimously.

It’ll get its first trial run during Piratefest, which starts April 7.

“Vidant leadership and other execs talking about building a city of choice, about creating a great place to live, work, eat, shop and invest and this policy, to pursue alcohol in the town common, is a policy that aligns us in the right direction,” said Bianca Shoneman, Dir., Uptown Greenville.

The policy will stay in effect until the end of the year. Council will then have the option to re-address or modify it.
