GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – Greenville Fire and Rescue responded to an outdoor fire at an apartment on Landmark Street Monday afternoon.

The call came in around 4:30 Monday afternoon.

The department’s Public Information Officer, Rebekah Thurston, is on the scene as well as a WNCT 9 On Your Side crew. Thurston said the fire was outside, but quickly spread up the side of the residence.

One person was inside at the time but escaped with no injuries.

Thurston said people driving by saw flames, honked horns to alert anyone who might have been inside, and then called 911.

Greenville firefighters quickly got the fire under control. It’s currently under investigation.

We’ll have additional details as they’re available.
