GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – Greenville firefighters are now getting tech savvy in the way they fight fires.

They spent Tuesday morning using the new Bullex ATTACK System which allows firefighters to virtually do their job without battling a real fire.

The portable system has all the elements including smoke and flames, just without the heat.

This allows firefighters to train in locations where live-fire training isn’t possible.

“We have to keep an open mind to things that could help the citizens of Greenville stay safer and things that can help us stay safer and get home to our families,” said Firefighter Brian Buchanan.

The new technology is state of the art and while Tuesday’s training was only a trial-run, Greenville Fire Rescue hopes to budget the program in the near future.
