A state of the art action park may soon be coming to Greenville.
The city is in the planning process of bringing a new action park to the area.
The first phase will be a BMX skate park which they hope to break ground on by this time next year.
More than 100 people attended a public input meeting Tuesday night to share what they would like to see at the proposed park.
The idea for the park was inspired by BMX legend Dave Mirra.
He trained people at the Jaycee Skatepark in Greenville, inspiring many, before he passed away in 2016.
“The community wanted to do something to commemorate him and what he meant to Greenville and the contribution of the sport,” parks planner Lamarco Morrison said. “We thought, ‘what a better way to do it than build a memorial park in his honor.'”
The city said his name will be incorporated into the new park.
