Greenville Leaders celebrate National Community Development Week


This week is national community development week and Greenville leaders are celebrating the work they are accomplishing in local communities

     This week is all about highlighting and showing off projects they have worked on with the help of the Community Development Block Grant Fund.

     Monday morning’s opening ceremony was held at one of the house that have been refurbished and up for sale on Roosevelt Street.

     About a dozen city leaders spoke on the progress the team has made.

     The also talked about the impact the use of funds to senior services infrastructure housing rehabilitation and non-profits have in the area.

“Whenever people feel better about themselves, whenever they are receiving. We have all in this life had to have help from someone at some point in time and we are trying to help as many as we can with the funding that we have,” said Planner One Sylvia Brown

     Each year they receive these funds of more than one million dollars

     The activities primarily target low in come to moderate income families.

     There are a couple of other events planned for this week including a financial literacy workshop and a contractor’s workshop.
