Greenville Police evacuated a local apartment complex Thursday night while trying to arrest a wanted suspect.

Around 10 P.M., the department’s Violent Criminal Apprehension Team received a tip that Abjah Moses was inside an apartment at 2235 #203 NE Greenville Boulevard.

After refusing to come out and barricading himself inside, police used chemical munitions to force the 18-year-old to surrender.

It was after the Greenville Police Emergency Response Team was called as backup.

Police said to ensure the safety of all tenants, they evacuated the majority of the apartment complex.

As of 5:46 A.M. Friday morning, Moses was at the Pitt County Detention Center under a $500,000 secured bond.

He is charged with kidnapping, shooting a gun into a place while people were inside and robbery with a dangerous weapon.
