GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) — Greenville Police say they will be out in full force to make sure everyone enjoys the festivities safely. Many officers will patrol the event Friday at the Town Common in Uptown. Although there have not been any threats made locally, officers are staying vigilant.

“Our goal is to make sure that we have enough officers in every area of the Town Common to make sure when it gets dark and people can’t see as well that we still know what’s going on,” says Greenville Interim Police Chief Ted Sauls.

The Greenville Police Department says there will also be patrols making rounds in neighborhoods this weekend. Saturday, they expect the concern to shift to people firing their own fireworks in neighborhoods. They ask people to find a safe spot to set off their own display if they’re planning to celebrate in that way.
