Growing need for animal foster families in Onslow County

There’s a push in Onslow County to find temporary homes for puppies and kittens.

Onslow County Animal Services says during this time of year they have received an influx of animals.

In order to take in more at the shelter, they are looking for foster families.

Puppies and kittens are the greatest need for foster care.

Animal Services says the summertime is perfect for students to learn about the responsibility of taking care of an animal.

“We’d think it’d be a great way for families to teach their children who are out of school right now to give care to a less fortunate being,” said Laurie Hubik, animal care specialist at OCAS.

Right now, 6 puppies are available for foster care and several cats as well.

The shelter says supplies are included when fostering an animal.
