Heavy traffic expected for ECU’s graduation on Friday

Friday is a big day for East Carolina University seniors, it’s graduation day!

More than 15,000 people are expected in Greenville to watch students turn their tassels.

ECU police want the public and newcomers to keep traffic, construction, and parking in mind.

Officers will begin monitoring traffic on the roadways tomorrow morning.

They said there will be plenty of parking around Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium, but attendees should get there early to secure a spot.

“We are encouraging people to try to plan ahead to leave a little bit early to be early to be aware of the detour signs that we have as you can see with 5th and Reade streets those roadways are closed,” said ECU police Captain Chris Sutton.

With the ceremony taking place outside, police also want to remind folks to drink plenty of water and stay hydrated.
