HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. (WSPA) – A former youth baseball coach in Henderson County, NC has been sentenced to 60 days in jail after being charged with four counts of assault on a child just over a year ago.
According to the Henderson Times-News, Jonathan Russell, 34 plead guilty to four misdemeanor counts of assault on a child under 12.
The charges stemmed from reports that four 9-year-old boys had been disciplined and spanked at Russell’s home during a team sleepover that happened sometime between August 2014 and January 2015, says the Henderson Times-News.
In addition to the 60 days in jail, Russell was also ordered to 18 months of supervised probation, while also restricted from coaching or being around children.
