Jacksonville man arrested on several drug charges, deputies say

A man has been arrested after an investigation into illegal drug sales activity in Jacksonville, deputies said.

Mario A. Rodriguez, 43, was charged with possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver cocaine, manufacture cocaine, maintaining a dwelling, misdemeanor fictitious information to Law Enforcement Officers, possession of drug paraphernalia, failure to appear for DWI and open container.

The Onslow County Sheriff’s Office Drug Enforcement Unit said they started an investigation completed an investigation into an illegal drug sales activity reported on the Lot 16 located on 1200 Cannady Road.

Deputies said they conducted the investigation after receiving a tip from a concerned citizen about suspected drug trafficking.

On Thursday, deputies said they concluded the investigation after searching Rodriguez’ residence.

Deputies said they found an ounce of powder cocaine, $2,420, digital scales and other drug paraphernalia.

Investigation showed Rodriguez was living illegally in the United States, deputies said.

Rodriguez was sent to the Onslow County Detention Center under a $19,000 bond.
