JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – The Onslow County Fire Marshal launched an investigation into a fire that happened at a vacant home.
Early Thursday morning, five emergency response crews headed to the mobile home on 1035 Hinestown Road. The crews had the fire out in about 15 minutes.
Fire Marshal Brian Kelly said he learned from the owner that no one was supposed to be there and there was no electricity to the home at the time of the fire. He said Rhodestown Volunteer Fire Department, Back Swamp Volunteer Fire Department, Southwest Volunteer Fire Department, Richlands Fire Department and Onslow County EMS responded.
Kelly said the fire was contained to one room, but that the home is considered a total loss because of the structural damages. He encouraged the public to call Crimestoppers to share information about what might have happened.
