KINSTON, N.C. (WNCT) – Dozens of community members in Kinston are working to make school a safer place for children.
Walk of Faith Church Ministries held it’s 3rd annual Back to School Anti-Bullying Rally at Grainger Stadium.
Organizers said it’s important for children to not feel threatened in school, and to look out for one another.
Assistant District Attorney of Lenoir and Greene County Imelda Pate stressed to children to treat others how you want to be treated. “It’s about letting the children know that they have a voice in their school system and in the community,” she explained. “And if they are bullied what they should do is tell someone about it, tell a teacher, tell a principal, tell an adult.
100 book bags with supplies were also given away to students.
Additional speakers, a DJ, and other activities were held to get kids excited about heading back to school.
