The Kinston Teens group told WNCT about an empowering conference.
The group’s goal is to curb crime and empower fellow teens. They traveled to New York for the Ted-X Teen conference about changing the world.
Community donations helped leader Chris Suggs and ten others learn about how “simple” ideas can be the best.
“We learned a lot about different ways to change the world different initiatives that have already been started to improve society all over the world really so it was very powerful,” said Suggs.
“Sometimes people are so stubborn, and they can’t figure out a way to get out of the issue, and get fed up, and you just give up, and that’s what I found most interesting,” said Erykah Cooke.
The group right now focuses on high schoolers but tells WNCT it plans to share these new ideas with middle schoolers soon.
