KINSTON, N.C. (WNCT) – Lenoir County is the latest county in the east to consider allowing employees to carry guns.

Pitt County was the first to pass this type of ordinance.

Since December, county employees with concealed carry permits are allowed to carry them inside county buildings, excluding schools, the courthouse, and the detention center.

Monday afternoon, the board of commissioners in Lenoir County will discuss creating a similar ordinance.

Commissioners will meet at four o’clock in their meeting room in the Lenoir County Courthouse.
