On December 11, the top 20 towns and cities were narrowed down to 10, and Little Washington along the beautiful Pamlico river is one of the top competitors.
9 On Your Side, Kara Gann, had the chance to visit ‘Little Shoppes and South Market Antiques’ along Main Street and the owners said they are so excited for this nomination and being in the top 10.
If Washington is chosen, the show will pick a few businesses to be featured.
Clark said being in the Top 10 is an honor.
“Little Washington is a great town it’s full of locals that support us we have a lot of day visitors and now we are getting more people that stay for the weekend, so just fun,” said Clark.
They will help them with businesses marketing strategies and upgrades, spreading a total of $500,000 between them.
“We are hoping it will mean more revitalization of Little Washington we are hoping it will introduce us to people who may have never heard of us even in eastern North Carolina,” said Little Shoppes co-owner Rebecca Clark.
On January 23 and 24 the cast and crew from the show will come to town and meet the folks here.
They will have a chance to visit the shops and will really have the chance to get to know the area.
“It’s nice people to know we are really trying to make our downtown better and this is just an honor because we are one of 10 out of 12,000 in the country,” said Clark.
