KINSTON, N.C. (WNCT) - A Kinston-based non-profit organization, Pacesetterz Inc., held a fundraising event Saturday at Fairfield Park, to raise money for a new scholarship opportunity for students in need.
The scholarship is called "I'm So Fly."
The goal of the scholarship is to help students afford things like cap and gowns, senior dues, and even prom pictures.
Organizers say as long as students have a "B" average in school, they can be eligible for the scholarship.
"I came up with this idea because I've seen parents single and dual households, that struggle to get a child graduated and that package is just healthy," said Selena Parker.
Students who are interested can apply online which requires writing an essay. If they are accepted, responsibilities include participating in community service.
