1 seriously injured after being shot while making deposit at bank in Roanoke Rapids

ROANOKE RAPIDS, N.C. (WNCT) - One victim is in serious condition after being shot by a suspect while making a deposit at BB&T Bank in Roanoke Rapids Monday night, police said.

The Roanoke Rapids Police Department responded to the BB&T Bank located on East 10th Street in reference to a robbery and shooting reported on Monday around 10:30 p.m.

Police said that two employees from a business were making the night deposit.

As they pulled up to make the deposit, police said that a man dressed in all black approached the employee’s vehicle and fired one round at the vehicle.

The round entered the vehicle and struck one employee, police said.

The employee that was shot and the other employee then fled the scene and went to the ER at Halifax Regional Medical Center for treatment and then transported to a trauma center.

The victim is listed in serious condition at Vidant Hospital.

Police said that the suspect fled the scene in an unknown direction of travel.

The suspect was dress in all black.
