KINSTON, N.C. (WNCT) - Over 100 jobs are headed to Eastern North Carolina.
Jetstream Aviation is setting up a new paint facility at the Global Transpark in Kinston.
"Most people don't know this but NC is the #4 state in the nation for aerospace manufacturing”, that’s according to NC Global Transpark executive director Allen Thomas and he says it’s a good thing.
Jetstream Aviation is growing their electrostatic painting facility by adding 145 jobs.
Thomas says, "What this is, electrostatic, is a very high end covering for a jet, and there is only a few in the country."
In fact, most people have to send their jets to Nebraska or Maine to be painted.
So, they're excited to have this service come to Kinston and hopefully attract people from all over the southeast.
Kinston mayor Don Hardy is happy to see more jobs flow into his area.
"It brings people to our community, and that’s what we want, we want them to work and live here", Hardy says.
The transpark hopes to have everything up and going by 2020 and the best part, the new jobs will pay around $60,000 a year which is double the average salary in Kinston.
