Authorities investigate fire at hotel in Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) - Authorities are investigating a fire reported at a hotel in Jacksonville Friday morning.

The Jacksonville Fire and Emergency Services responded to a commercial structure fire at the Red Carpet Inn on 701 North Marine Boulevard around 7:10 a.m.

The building was evacuated and cleared.  

“The fire was limited to one of the hotel rooms on the fourth floor,” said JFES Assistant Chief Shaun Hayes.  

Lanes on nearby streets of Preston Road and Elizabeth Street were closed to traffic for a short time.

The fire is still under investigation.
