Ayden, N.C. (WNCT) - A lot has happened in the last 100 years, and Ayden resident Mainer Moore has seen it all.
"This is a glorious day," said Alexander Moore Jr., one of Mainer's children. "The celebration of my mom's 100th birthday and I'm proud for everyone to show up and celebrate it with us."
Over 100 people came out to celebrate Mrs. Moores birthday with singing, dancing, and lots of encouraging words.
"My mom, she's a pillar of this community and she raised this community. Yes she did," said Moore Jr.
She is still very active in her community. She plays bingo three days a week and goes to church every Sunday.
Despite her 100 years, she still is sharp as a tack.
'She still has a whole lot of wisdom up there. Its amazing. It makes me understand where she's been and where she's at now," said Moore Jr.
Moore has had a good long life and her children believe she has many more years to come.
"It's a blessing to have her be 100 years old and now out of ten children she only has four of us left. So shes about to outlive all of us," said Mary Gardner, one of Moores children.
