Update: Nash County Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to the 7200 block of Summerlea Place in Rocky Mount, NC, to reports of an accidental shooting.
When deputies arrived at the scene, they determined the call was a domestic homicide.
The homicide victim is William Marcelus Major,51.
The suspect has been identified as Major’s son, William Marcellus Major Jr., 22.
No clear motive has been identified as to why William Marcellus Major Jr. decided to kill his father.
William Marcellus Major Jr. was arrested and taken to the Nash County Sheriff’s Office where he was charged with one count of First Degree Murder.
William Marcellus Major Jr. was fingerprinted, photographed, and placed in the Nash County Detention Facility with no bond. His first court appearance is set for April 16 in Nashville District Court.
